Fundamentals and applications of data analysis are explored across the full analysis process. The focus is on data preprocessing, visualization, and the use of Python and machine learning methods. Results are evaluated and applied to real-world problems.

Concepts of high-performance database systems for enterprise applications are explored. The focus is on architecture, scalability, performance optimization, and availability and security. This is complemented by NoSQL approaches and in-memory databases for efficient processing of large data volumes.

Business data and their relevance for organizations are analyzed. The focus is on data quality, standardization, structures, and identification concepts. This is complemented by data governance, lifecycle management, and master data management principles to ensure consistent and usable data.

Structures and management of IT organizations are examined in the context of enterprise architecture management (EAM). The focus is on architectural layers, metamodels, governance, and frameworks such as TOGAF. This is complemented by maturity models, process integration, and approaches to implementing EAM.

Software architecture and design patterns, computer forensics and incident response, event-driven data infrastructures, and security engineering in IT.

Cloud-native development and security of modern networks.

Current research topics are explored independently within the seminar. Based on selected literature, students prepare presentations and written papers, which are presented and discussed in class. Discussions deepen understanding and strengthen academic, analytical, and communication skills.

Within a team project, students independently work on a complex, practice-oriented task. Planning, organization, and implementation are managed autonomously using classical or agile methods. Lecturers act as coaches or clients. Results are documented and evaluated.

Concepts and technologies of system integration are addressed in the context of heterogeneous IT landscapes. The focus is on service-oriented architectures, integration patterns, and standards. This is complemented by migration approaches as well as modern techniques such as complex event processing and streaming analytics.

Core concepts of modern software development are covered in the context of distributed, multi-layer architectures. The focus is on process integration, service-oriented approaches, data exchange, and persistence. This is complemented by integration technologies, messaging, and professional development environments.

IT consulting is examined in terms of its foundations, forms, and frameworks. Market structures, services, legal aspects, as well as processes and tools are covered. Project execution, collaboration, and career aspects are also addressed. Exercises strengthen research, conceptual, and presentation skills.

The master’s thesis represents the academic completion of the degree and demonstrates the ability to independently address complex problems using appropriate scientific methods. It requires subject-specific knowledge, research methods, project management, and, where applicable, presentation skills.
