Why did you decide to study GFTM?
With an engineering background and experience, I have always been passionate about building new products for the future. When I began exploring master’s programs, I discovered GFTM that uniquely combined strategic foresight with innovation methodologies. It felt like the perfect fit to build a strong foundation, enabling me to understand evolving trends and translate them into value-driven product innovations.
What was the most important lesson you learned during your studies?
The most important lesson I learnt is that the future is uncertain and there is never just one single future to imagine or work towards but take decisions that shape a desired future. This realisation fundamentally changed the way I think. Embracing uncertainty and using it as a strategic advantage became the biggest takeaway from my studies.
When you look back on your studies: What do you still benefit from most today?
I still benefit most from the ability to analyse trends systematically and translate them into actionable insights. The methodologies such as scenario planning directly support my work, especially in identifying the innovation opportunities.
Since graduating, what phases of your profession have you completed?
After graduating, I started working as a foresight analyst and then transitioned into the role of innovation consultant. I’ve worked on projects ranging from trend analysis and scenario planning to venture building for major multinational companies in technology, FMCG and automotive sectors. Over time, I’ve contributed to foresight reports on topics such as Gen AI and Decarbonisation, and also played a key role in ideation, validation, and early-stage venture incubation for diverse clients.
How would you describe your typical workday?
My workday usually revolves around research, analysis, and collaboration. At present, I’m focused on consumer insights for a product currently in the MVP phase. So, my days often include planning research, processing insights, and translating findings into concrete next steps. No two days are alike, which makes the work both dynamic and stimulating.
What makes your industry so exciting for you?
As an innovation consultant in a venture-building firm, I get the opportunity to work across industries ranging from renewable energy to automotive. This variety keeps the work exciting, as I can apply foresight and innovation learnings in new contexts and continuously broaden my perspective.
What do you particularly like about your job?
I enjoy the unique blend of research and creativity. It’s incredibly rewarding to take evolving trends and consumer insights and transform them into the products of the future. I also value working in interdisciplinary teams, where diverse perspectives challenge me to think differently and push ideas further.
How has completing your studies contributed to the realization of your career goals?
My studies provided the foundation for my career shift. With GFTM, I got the methodological expertise and global perspective to move into foresight and innovation. The program gave me both credibility and confidence to transition from engineering into strategic roles where I now create better impact.
What criteria did you use to decide on a particular career path/step?
I have always evaluated career steps based on two main criteria: the opportunity to learn and grow, and the chance to create tangible impact.
When choosing career steps, I focus on roles that challenge me while allowing me to contribute meaningfully. For me, having a clear goal and working steadily towards it has always been the guiding principle.
What is your favourite future, professional or personal?
Professionally, I want to continue building products and strategies that not only create business value but also contribute positively to society and the environment. Personally, I hope to keep learning, collaborating across cultures, and building a career that keeps me curious and motivated every day.
